Bus shelter locations available

Bus shelters are an outdoor advertising format found mainly in town and city centres, in residential developments and in the small outlying districts of every city. They tend to sit at key points on local bus routes, where people often wait for several minutes.

We offer bus shelter advertising in many Spanish cities. Here are some of our top locations:

Why advertise on bus shelters

Bus shelters are close cousins of kiosks and MUPIs (6-sheet street panels), since they’re the same size. They’re an excellent way to grab people’s attention in towns and cities, thanks to their strategic locations and high visibility.

  • Eye-catching visual advertising with 24/7 visibility in high-traffic areas.
  • Strategic locations, with people in front of your message or artwork for minutes at a time.
  • Greater brand awareness and trust.
  • Flexibility for short and long campaigns.
  • Key points on people’s daily routes through the city.
  • A non-intrusive format that improves message recall when paired with social media campaigns.

Guide prices for bus shelter advertising

Every shelter has its own price, depending on the city, the location (how many people pass by) and the dates. Rates run from €92 per face per week up to €350 at the most sought-after shelters in Madrid. These examples are a guide only. There’s no minimum order, and single faces can be booked too.

Bus shelter advertising dimensions

The standard bus shelter poster is 1.20 metres wide and 1.75 metres high. At this size, your ad can be read clearly from around 50 metres away, whatever the weather or the light.

As we mentioned above, the bus shelter format matches the size of MUPI street panels, kiosks (in Spanish) and street clocks (in Spanish). If a campaign uses more than one of these types of advertising site, handling the artwork is simpler. Our guide to preparing artwork for the printer is (PDF in Spanish), and the blog has a post on how to get your design ready for printing (in Spanish).

Frequently asked questions about bus shelter advertising

How much does bus shelter advertising cost?

It depends on where the shelter is, the length of the campaign and the number of sites you book. They cost about the same as MUPIs and kiosks. In our campaign planner (in Spanish) you can see all the options. Each bus shelter face usually costs between €92 and €142 a week; in Madrid it reaches €350 (in Barcelona, €260). If you want to dig deeper into rates and what drives the cost, it’s all explained in our article on what it costs to advertise on bus shelters (in Spanish).

When do I need to book a campaign?

Bus shelter space is strictly limited. Once a shelter is reserved for a date, it’s locked and can’t be sold to anyone else. As demand rises, it gets harder to secure the exact shelter you need. Our advice is to confirm your booking about two months before the campaign starts. For major dates (Easter, Black Friday, Christmas, Valentine’s Day), plan it 4 to 6 months ahead.

Every so often a booking is cancelled or a shelter is left unsold, and it can still be added to a campaign until 7 days before that week begins. If you want one, contact the Marco Visual team.

Who prints the ad (the design), and how much does it cost?

We take care of everything. Choose your sites in the campaign planner and, when you click ‘Siguiente’ (Next), the printing and posting cost appears straight away. With bus shelters, posters cost from €35 per face, just as with MUPIs and kiosks.

When do I have to send (or upload) the design?

Send us your artwork as early as possible: the printer needs time to check it over and make sure it’s all correct. As a rule, we can still take it up to 7 days before your start date. That’s why most advertisers book the shelter months ahead and finalise the design as the date gets closer.

Do I need permission from the local council to run an outdoor advertising campaign in the street?

No. Every bus shelter you can book is run under a public concession, so provided you stick to the usual restrictions (nothing promoting alcohol or tobacco, nothing obscene…), the council stays out of it. In other words, the council hands these spaces over to companies to sell, and that’s how advertisers can promote their brand or get their message across to the public.

For businesses outside Spain

You can email us or message us on WhatsApp in English and we’ll reply in writing, in English. Phone calls (+34 628 062 892) are answered in Spanish.

The shelters listed here are all located in Spain. We normally need your print-ready artwork no later than 7 days before the campaign begins, and we’ll handle the printing and posting.
