Monopole billboards on motorways and major roads
What is a monopole billboard?
A monopole billboard is a tall advertising structure carrying a panel of about 12 × 5 m, placed beside motorways, dual carriageways and the main roads into towns and cities. Thousands of vehicles pass it every day. It is booked for long periods, usually 6 to 12 months.
The version with an LED screen instead of a printed vinyl is the digital monopole
When does a monopole billboard campaign make sense?
Their sheer size lets monopole billboards carry more content than most outdoor advertising sites. They stand 12 to 30 metres above the ground and can be seen from hundreds of metres away. They are often used for signposting and giving directions to a business. Very often, too, for branding: people come across the brand away from their screens, and it sticks in the memory for longer.
Here are some of the successful campaigns that monopole billboards make possible:

Available monopole billboards on roads across Spain
Businesses use monopole billboards to advertise themselves. You’ll usually find them where traffic is heavy, and on the roads into and out of towns and industrial estates.
On the road, everyone in the car has just one thing to do: watch what’s ahead. So the impact is guaranteed. And because the panel is so big and so high up, it’s easy to read from hundreds of metres away.

The advantages of roadside monopole billboard advertising
Large-format monopole billboards are an excellent way to catch the public’s eye. Their huge dimensions do much of the work; the rest comes from a strategic location and very high visibility.
- Eye-catching visual advertising, visible 24/7 in high-traffic areas.
- Strategic locations on main roads and on the routes in and out of town.
- Stronger brand awareness and trust.
- Flexibility for long-running campaigns.
- An unobtrusive medium that helps the message stick when combined with social media campaigns.
Monopole billboard guide prices
Monopole billboards are normally booked for six months or a year at a time. A 12x5-metre monopole usually costs between €6,000 and €10,000 a year (roughly €500-€850 a month), depending on how busy the motorway is and which region it’s in. Production comes on top, and with this format it’s a significant cost. Digital monopoles

Large-format monopole billboard sizes
A standard monopole billboard usually measures 12 metres wide by 5 metres high. It is a format with plenty of variation, though: many are twice as tall, or slightly wider. At these sizes, your advertising can often be read clearly from several hundred metres away.
On top of that, monopole billboards are often mounted more than 20 metres up, so visibility is very good. They stand out, and they catch drivers’ eyes with ease.

FAQs: roadside monopole billboards and their visual impact
What does monopole billboard advertising cost?
What you pay depends on where the monopole is, how long your ad stays up and how many sites you book. The campaign planner (in Spanish) lists the different options. A 12x5-metre monopole usually costs around €6,000-€10,000 a year. With monopoles, though, you have to factor in the cost of printing and installing the artwork. That alone can run to more than €3,000. The material has to last for many months and keep its colours, and above all, fitting it usually takes cranes and several operatives working at height, right at the top of the structure. If you’d like to understand in detail what goes into a campaign budget, we explain how an outdoor advertising budget is worked out
When do I need to book my campaign?
Outdoor advertising is exclusive by nature. As soon as a site is booked for certain dates, nobody else can buy it for those dates. When demand is high, securing the exact site you want gets harder. We recommend finalising your campaign several months in advance. With monopole billboards, if a long-term contract is already running on a structure, getting hold of it will be difficult. If you can be flexible about locations, though, finding a suitable (and available) monopole shouldn’t be too hard.
Who handles the printing of the ad (the design), and what does it cost?
We deal with all of it. When you’ve picked your sites in our campaign planner (in Spanish) and pressed ‘Siguiente’ (Next), the cost of printing and fitting the artwork is shown. For monopole billboards, as mentioned above, that can come to more than €3,000. The material has to hold up for many months without fading, and above all, it usually takes cranes and several operatives working at height to fix the creative at the top of the structure.
What’s the deadline for sending (or uploading) the campaign design?
Send it as early as you can. That gives the printers time to check it over and confirm all is well. As a rule, the design needs to reach us no later than 15 days before your start date. So the usual pattern is to book months in advance and finalise the design as the date approaches. If your campaign needs a little more leeway, ask us about your particular case: we may be able to take the design slightly later.
Do I need the council’s permission to run an outdoor advertising campaign?
No, there’s no need. The monopoles available to book come from a public concession. As long as the usual restrictions are observed (no alcohol or tobacco ads, nothing obscene…), the council doesn’t get involved. Put another way, the council awards these spaces to companies that sell them on to advertisers, who use them to promote themselves or get a message across to the public.

Every monopole billboard on this page stands beside a road in Spain. Send us the artwork file, as a rule no later than 15 days before the start date: we print the vinyl and install it, with the crane included in the production quote.
What our clients say
Real businesses that have already booked our outdoor advertising sites.
