Advertising clocks and thermometers in town centres and on busy pedestrian routes
What is an advertising thermometer?
An advertising thermometer, or street clock, is a piece of street furniture that shows the time and temperature at the top and carries a 1.20 × 1.75 m backlit poster below. That small public service earns the site far more glances than an ordinary poster.
When is it worth booking a street clock or thermometer campaign?
Take event promotion. On a clock poster there’s room for the venue, the people taking part and every other detail that matters, so passers-by get the full picture. The panel is mounted high, beside the time and temperature readout, where it catches the eye of anyone walking past. You’ll find clocks in every kind of location. That lets you target a tightly defined local audience: the exact people you want your campaign to reach. Branding is another big one, because a name seen out on the street rather than online sticks for longer. And you’ll often see them used to launch promotions (Christmas, Black Friday, the sales…) and to announce shop or branch openings.

The benefits of street clock advertising
Size-wise, a street clock is first cousin to the kiosk panel, the bus shelter and the MUPI street panel. Well placed and visible from a distance, clocks grab the attention of anyone moving around town.
- Eye-catching advertising that’s visible 24/7 in high-traffic areas.
- Strategic locations, where people look up to check the time and temperature.
- Greater brand awareness and trust.
- Flexibility for both short and long campaigns.
- Key points on the routes people take around the city.
- An unobtrusive advertising site that boosts recall of your message when combined with social media campaigns.
Street clock advertising: guide prices
City, location and dates decide what a street clock costs. Rates start from €108 per face per week, and at the main junctions they reach €240. The examples below are a guide only. There’s no minimum order, so you can also book single faces.
| Example campaign | What’s included | Guide price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 face · 1 week | One clock at a main junction or avenue | from €108 |
| 5 faces · 2 weeks | Mini network across the main junctions | from €1,080 |
| 10 faces · 2 weeks | Network covering the whole city | from €2,160 |
| Printing and posting | Poster per face: the campaign planner shows the cost before you book | from €35 per poster |

Street clock poster dimensions
Street clock posters come in a standard size: 1.20 m wide and 1.75 m high. Rain or shine, day or night, they can be read clearly from about 50 metres.
As mentioned earlier, the thermometer shares its format with MUPI street panels, kiosks and bus shelters. If your campaign combines two or more of these formats, handling the creative is simpler. Frequently asked questions about street clocks and their visual impact
How much does street clock advertising cost?
Location matters, and so do campaign length and the number of advertising sites booked. Clocks sit slightly above MUPIs and bus shelters on price, since each one is a standalone piece at a main junction. The campaign planner (in Spanish) lists all the options. As a rule, each face of a clock costs between €108 and €132 a week. In the most sought-after spots it rises to €240. When should I book my campaign?
Clock and thermometer advertising is a very exclusive medium. When a clock is booked for a given date, it’s taken off sale. Nobody else can have it. The higher the demand, the slimmer your chances of getting the precise clock you’re after. Our advice is to confirm the booking roughly two months before the campaign starts. If it falls over a peak date (Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Black Friday), allow 4 to 6 months.
Even so, the odd booking gets cancelled, or a clock stays unsold. These can still be included in a campaign up to 7 days before the week in question. If that’s what you need, just ask the Marco Visual team.
Who prints the artwork, and how much does it cost?
Leave it to us. When you’ve chosen the advertising sites in the campaign planner, moving on to ‘Siguiente’ (Next) brings up the cost of printing and posting. On clocks, the poster starts at €35 per face, just as on MUPIs and kiosks.
When do I need to send or upload the artwork?
Get your clock artwork to us as soon as you can. The printers need time to check it over and make sure nothing’s wrong. Normally, artwork is accepted up to 7 days before the campaign goes live. In practice, most advertisers secure the clock months beforehand and finalise the artwork once the start date is close.
Do I need to ask the council for permission to run an outdoor advertising campaign in the street?
No. Every clock and thermometer we can book for you is run under a public concession. Stick to the standard restrictions (no alcohol, no tobacco, no obscene messages…) and the council won’t intervene. Put simply, the council awards these sites to companies that sell the advertising, and advertisers then use them to put their message in front of the public.
